patio door blinds

Door blinds serve the same purpose as windows blinds. They are used for privacy, shade and for design and decoration. Whether you want to put them on your patio doors, sliding doors or even the top of a half glass door. You’ll have your reasons and you’ll also probably have a unique door size. This is where blinds for windows and doors differ. Most windows are come in an array standard sizes which makes it easier for you to buy blinds that are ready made. To find the a specific sized door blind you will probably have to search harder and maybe even order a custom sized door window blinds. This is certainly individualistic and will vary from one home to the next. What we’ll instead focus on is the styles, materials and colors that are available and also designs that will look great on your doors.

Entrance doors that are made out of fiberglass and steel usually come with a plastic window frame. This is where the enclosed door blinds will be installed. Installing them is pretty straightforward as the 20×64, 25×66 or the 22×36 enclosed blind are made to fit on either fiberglass or steel doors. Your sizes might be different and that’s not a problem. I simply stated some of the more common sizes. You might also have sidelight which if your door is 20×64 then your sidelights will probably require 7×64″ blinds. You’re probably wondering if you should buy them from one retailer of individual retailers. This is completely up to you as long as the product is the same brand and same specifications you should always go with whichever retailer is cheaper and reliable. A good product will mean you don’t have to worry about dusting or cleaning the blinds. The will fit tightly be energy efficient and of course cordless. The reliable merchant is an issue because with door blinds you are usually given a 5 year warranty. You want to avoid saving a few pennies when buying from a retailer that has bad or mediocre ratings. As far as color for entrance doors the predominate color by far is white. And what a lovely sight it is to have an all white entrance door with beautiful aluminum white door blinds.

Patio door blinds can pretty much the same as entrance doors so you can install blinds on them in less than an hour and you won’t need to do any kind of drilling. Considering it’s the the patio you might have ideas to paint it to reflect the style of the patio. This can be achieved by painting the white frame with the color you want whether it is a forest green, light yellow or what ever color you have in mind. Blinds for patio doors can also be the non-enclosed variety and these will more or less be your typical horizontal or vertical blinds. They are not placed on the door itself but rather on top. this are ideal for sliding doors as well. You might like this style which many times will cover the entire door. Although quite different from enclosed style they are however available in hundreds of colors and many materials as well. Wood or faux wood would look spend in a patio that is situated near a lush garden.

Sliding door blinds are almost always vertical blinds it simplifies opening and closing the sliding doors. If you are buying these kinds of blinds try your best to get cordless. I can’t remember the number of times the cord on my sliding door blinds caused me grief. If you have little ones then that will further complicate matters. It really can be a hassle and the likelihood of the cord being tangled is real because unlike windows, the cord on sliding door blinds is full length. There also also window treatment options of french doors but this will be covered in it’s on article. The cost for enclosed door blinds is not cheap at all. We’re talking about between $75-$100 for half glass doors (20×36″) and $100+ for full length doors. They are however worth it in my opinion for a couple of reasons. It is a good product that gives your the privacy and protection from UV and sunlight that you need and you also don’t have to pay for installation because you can do it yourself.

Having a patio is a luxury and installing patio blinds will maximize your enjoyment whenever you are in it. It’s great to have large glass windows and when you are able to control how much sunlight enters your patio it will only make much more comfortable. Some form of sunscreen is vital and patio blinds are certainly and attractive option. There is also the matter of privacy because surely you don’t want your neighbors to be all in your business and patio blinds can give the privacy you need. You’ll have no shortage of different styles of blinds to choose from including colors and fabric. We’ll look at some options that will truly make your patio inspiring.

Lets take step by step and cover the reasons why we want to use blinds for our patio window treatment. Unlike curtains blinds are a much better fit in the pation. They are more pleasing to eye but are also more practical because the patio is exposed to mother nature more so than the interior of the home. With this in mind our first concern is how can we control sun exposure just the way we like. This is important because knowing the answer to this question will help you decide the fabric or material that is right for you. A simple example would be honeycomb blinds they are energy efficient and using them will keep your patio warmer in winter and cooler in summer. There are other options such as roman blinds that are not energy efficient but just as lovely.

One thing to keep in mind with honeycomb blinds and roman blinds is that they are made from fabric. You may have a humidity problem in your patio and a better option might be faux wood blinds. This are great because you won’t have to worry if your patio gets a little wet during the rainy season. These are some things you must consider before deciding on which patio blinds to choose. Other considerations are how much of your patio do you want to cover with blinds? Some styles look much better covering patio glass and windscreens. If you want to your patio to also have patio door blinds you have to calculate that into your plans as well. You might also want plants and planting beds in your backyard patio. Every aspect needs to be consider to give you an area that is harmonious, natural and beautiful. The same way that your patio was constructed with mother nature in mind is the same approach when buying outdoor patio blinds.

All of this information might seem overwhelming and a little too much. But actually it is not and the principal is very simple. Protection from solar sun rays, privacy from neighbors and of course a style and look that will be pleasing to any eye. The way you decorate your patio will be entirely up to you but the trend is that homeowners are giving patios much more though and attention. Patios are essentially becoming extensions of the house and are using styles along those lines. Rugs and outdoor furniture are carefully chosen and positioned. The trend is also focusing on making the patio room compliment the backyard. If you have a swimming pool, bbq area and lovely garden then you want your patio to look whole with those surrounding it. Keep this in mind and you patio blinds will only make your patio look much better than it already is.
