Bamboo window blinds are known for going well with almost any kind of décor. They also filter light very well. This is a major plus especially if your windows are exposed to strong sun exposure. The elegance and style they can offer a room goes without saying. This is particularly true for wider louvers as opposed to matchstick bamboo slats. Not surprisingly bamboo also happens to be very durable and people who have had them for years rarely have complaints about the bamboo material. Being earth friendly is another bonus to having bamboo for window treatment. As colors go, there is always the assumption that bamboo is brown, and while true in it’s raw form, you can blinds that are made from bamboo in several colors.

Your options won’t simply be what color you want because bamboo window blinds are also sold with pleasant and decorative designs. Sakura art is but one of many such decorative designs you can have on your window blinds. You can find these kinds of designs in oriental stores that sell furniture and other bamboo products. On-line you can find them at oriental furniture. Most people however like the plain or solid color bamboo blinds and probably includes you. Undoubtedly natural color bamboo, oak and walnut are the most widely sold colors. They look more natural than solid black or solid white but the interior design of the room or home ultimately defines which type of color would look best on your windows. Quality wise they can differ greatly and the abundant reviews make this very apparent. The under $25 variety are usually the matchstick style and many of these are roll ups. Clearly you have abundant options and it is just a matter of figuring out how much you want to spend and the type of style and color you are looking for. Bamboo is a good, durable and quality material and you should expect a positive difference when installing bamboo blinds on your windows.
Bamboo blinds either look good or they don’t. There really isn’t anything in between. A house that is completely window dressed with bamboo could very well look awkward. There are exceptions of course, and homes in areas with high humidity are perfect for wooden material. Natural bamboo wood actually comes from forests and it naturally tolerates moisture well. Too much moisture will however cause it to wear out before its time. Most bamboo blinds that you see online or otherwise are either the natural wood color or the carbonized variety. Carbonized bamboo is essentially the same but only darker. The shafts are also either small straw like or with larger flatter vanes, the natural look uses the smaller stems.
Natural bamboo will look good in some homes but if you have modern furnishing then the traditional style might not be in your best interest. Again though there are exceptions but I’m referencing with the typical modern apartment or house in mind. When shopping you’ll come across several designs including bamboo roll up blinds, cheap bamboo blinds and other varieties. It is true that bamboo is one of the least expensive window coverings. This won’t however mean that you are getting a good product. Put it this way if I were to live in an apartment temporarily and the apartment had no curtains or blinds then generic bamboo roll up blinds would be on the top of my list. They are cheap, easy to put up, and most of all they basically require no kind of maintenance.
If however you wanted to decorate your home with bamboo blinds then you should seriously start doing a little bit of research. Yes your home can look great in bamboo. I would first determine if the interior of my home would look good with bamboo window treatment. Secondly I will try to find the right kind of color of bamboo. There are more than just brownish colors. Inca Azure, Olive, Hazel and white are some colors you can decorate your windows with. The last and most important thing to research would be the brand. Some are so cheaply made that you will start to notice blemishes the first week, this is especially true for the think straw stems. Their shafts are so brittle they’ll break before if someone scrapes against them. The actual quality of the shafts and weaving is just as important and is what I would scrutinize the most. If you are going to pay for a product, you will be much happier with one that will last at least several years in your house.
I’ve noticed that there are many lesser known brands that are sold in discount stores and some are of okay quality but they don’t look too appealing. This is my opinion anyway. So if you are interested in bamboo blinds check out retailers that specialize in bamboo. Their selections will be much more varied, and who knows maybe you might find something that you’ll really love.
