The width of faux wood blinds are optimal when they are at least 2 inches wide. The appearance of capacious slats and louvers gives a better field of vision when someone wants to tilt them and look outside. The interval spacing between isn’t just exceptional for viewing because the voluminous span also allows more sunlight to enter through the window. The radiance that enters the home can be hindered to some extent if they were smaller slats. This does not render thinner slats useless, it’s a matter of design, and the type effect you are looking for. Spacious rooms or areas of the home that receive abundant sunshine would fare better if the blinds facilitated the entry of light. 2 inch faux wood blinds also have a lesser number of slats. A typical standard window that has a size of 32 inches wide and 56 inches high would have double the number of slats if the size was 1 inch.

The photo above details the obvious difference between 2 inch faux wood blinds and 1 inch faux wood blinds. The variance is immediately recognized and not just the blinds size but also the size of the headrail. Rather than considering one size superior to the other, the focus should be on which size is befitting a specific window, door or room. 2 faux wood blinds on glass doors may appear odd and conflict with the contour and design of doors. 1 wood blinds on the other hand would can be applied and would be in felicitously suitable. Other elements to consider beyond the size of the blinds would be the color of the faux wood. An all white aluminum door would match white wood blinds but can we claim the same for brownish blinds.

The similarities between 2” faux wood blinds and 1 inch faux wood blinds are apparent, both sizes are inviting and attractive. The size you buy should agree with the intended purpose as well as the intended window or door. 2” wood blinds will welcome the sunlight more than the smaller size. Doors will look nicer with 1” faux wood blinds because the smaller size is more amiable with doors and their sidelights.
The choice might be easier when looking at some samples of 2” wood blinds side by side on either windows or doors.

Plantation blinds not to be mistaken for plantation shutters are installed soley on the inside the house. Whereas shutters can be installed either inside or outside the home. They share something in common and that is they are made from wood or faux wood, the cheaper alternative to real wood. Traditionally plantation blinds are horizontal blinds with either 1 inch or 2 inches louvers. There are additional incremental sizes but those two size are the most popular. Although originally wood they are also available in an assortment of colors. Actually any color you prefer as you can order them customized that way. However when we speak of plantation style we mostly arrive at wood colors, this can be plantation oak, cherry, brown walnut, stained wood and of course white.

You might even see a plantation blind that is vertical the name might include plantation but style wise it is certainly not. It goes against the natural style of plantation styled window treatment. To illustrate my point lets take plantation shutters that are installed on the outside of the house. How do you think it will look if there are vertical blinds on the inside of the house? Awkward to say the least so if you are aiming at this kind of design then make sure that your blinds and shutters are both horizontal. A beautiful style will be to have all white plantation shutters with a lovely stained wood plantation blinds on the inside. Cost is always an issue no matter what and it is understandable because we all have a limited budget. You do have options however if you want to decorate you home with this lovely style. Your alternative option in this circumstance would be faux wood plantation blinds. They are beautiful, look like the real thing and they will fit your budget more than real wood blinds would. This is something you should contemplate and you have to always look at the positives of things. They are attractive and are also designed to last a very long time and maybe even longer that natural wood.

Plantation blinds whether they are from genuine wood or faux maple wood are a sight to behold. We have images of of grand houses but you know what they will lovely in modern city apartments too. It is simply a matter of how you will decorate your home. Window blinds do in fact require a little bit more effort from an interior design point of view. And when it comes to wood even more effort is required. You have to think about things like wood flooring and will it go nice with your plantation blinds. These things can be addressed in a proper way if you plan out how you will decorate or design your home first. You don’t want to be in a predicament where your furnishings do not match your window blinds. If done right and if you manage to strike that perfect balance then your plantation blinds will speak for themselves when your friends and family compliment you on them.

There’s nothing better than something that is genuine and natural. Wood blinds fits both descriptions we’ve discussed that faux wood blinds would be more appropriate in certain situations where moisture was an issue. With that in mind we’ll focus on the beauty and quality of authentic and natural wooden blinds. We all know that there’s always a premium to be paid whenever dealing with anything that natural. Premium wood blinds are always made out of hardwood. This is the best and most durable variety available. It is the type of material used whenever something is worth making. With hardwood you don’t have to worry about longevity because it will last you a very long time. This is one of the main concerns of people who are undecided between buying something that is synthetic and something that is made from natural raw materials.

Wood no matter how you describe it will forever be one of the most beautiful and elegant materials when it comes to furnishing you home. This can be wooden cabinets in your kitchen or Wood window blinds for your home’s window treatment. The color of your slats and louvers can be a natural stained color or you can go with painted colors. Pure white is always a hit but slat colors like pine, honey, chestnut, cherry, oak and the list goes on. When dealing with premium wood you also have to deal with premium brands. Levolor, Hunter Douglas, Graber, Blindschalet and Domestications are at the top of quality when it comes to wood blinds.

So you’re convinced you want blinds that are made out of genuine wood. You want to live in a home that is more fine tuned with nature. That’s great and your upscale house or apartment probably deserves the best. That decision is the initial step but now you have to decide what kind of style of blinds do you want. Do you want something traditional or are you looking for shutter style blinds? The size of the louvers is just as important and you have to decide do you want 1 inch, 1 3/8″, 2″, 2 3/8″, or 2.5 inches thick real wood blinds. The difference even in fractions of an inch can make a tremendous difference in the overall look of the room’s decor. It’s real difficult to even attempt to say which size is better because you have to base this on other factors such as walls, furniture and the finishing of the home.

Irrespective of the brand and how high marks it receives you should always look closely at the craftsmanship of the wood venetian blinds. After all this is real wood we’re talking about and you don’t want something with a blemish, do you? Also inspect the head rail as well as the trapezoid bottom rail. This is what stabilizes the bottom of the blind ensuring that is closed neatly and tightly. The rooms in your home you could put them in should not be limited with the exception of the bathroom and maybe the kitchen. Real wood blinds will look splendid in bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, the study and family rooms.

Wood blinds can add warmth to your home by giving it a charm that is agreeable with nature. It’s unfortunate that not everyone can afford real wood because the grandeur of these natural blinds will never be worn out. Their elegance will transcend age and you can feel confident and comfortable that you have the very best window treatment for your home.

Wooden louvers are appealing and will draw a lot of attention. The problem is their cost but this is where faux wood blinds can be a solution. Faux wood is an imitation wood that looks almost like the real thing. Some people might even consider this alternative to look even better than natural wood. This would be the effect of the finishing that can look very beautiful. Synthetic wood might not be your first option but if its genuine looks you want then you really shouldn’t worry about this aspect because it looks real enough. All the major brands make faux wood blinds and this speaks volumes for how good they are. The materials used to make them are either PVC or wood composite. The synthetic materials also means you can select from many kinds of color swatches.

We know they are not natural wood so let us discuss some of the good things about them. If you have white window frames then white faux wood blinds will look real good on your windows. Perhaps even more than just good because the style and look will truly appear stunning. As simple as they are they will look great if you match them with right window frame and color. The fact that they are synthetic also means that they are durable and will withstand certain elements better than natural wood. You won’t have to worry about humidity or moisture. This is a big factor if you intend to put them up in areas of the home such as the kitchen or bathroom. The embossed lookalike wood is also a lot easier to clean than authentic wood. This can be extremely beneficial as you can easily wipe clean any kind of dirt that gets on the louvers.

Installing them shouldn’t be too much of problem either, if you know what you are doing. Most of them are shipped with all the hardware required to put them up yourself if you follow the instructions carefully. You would simply have to select the size of louver you want. 1 inch faux wood blinds are cheaper than 2 inch faux wooden blinds. Garber Lake Forest makes a lovely 2.5 inch fauxwood blinds so if you like wider louvers then 2.5 inches should be adequate. Anything larger than that would start to cost considerably more. If for some reason you are not into faux materials and that is understandable then think about areas that you want to install wood blinds but can’t because of limitations or impracticality. The garage is one example and so are the kids rooms. These areas are much more prone to become dirty and expensive window coverings simply wouldn’t be a wise investment in these instances.

Faux wood blinds are not meant to replace genuine wood. They are however an economical alternative that actually make more sense to install than natural wood in certain rooms. Personally I would never want to install wood on my bathroom windows or patio room. We have no problem putting up polyester shower curtains, and the same principal apply when using cheap faux wood blinds on your bathroom window. They are inexpensive, suitable and are practical considering that natural wood in such a locations isn’t the best of choices.
